Alice Walker is a living literary legend. This year, as her iconic book, The Color Purple, celebrates its 40th anniversary, she is also releasing her newest text, Gathering Blossoms Under Fire. Our mission at Harrietts & Ida’s Bookshops is to celebrate women authors, artists, and activists under the guiding light of our ancestors. That mission has led us to this moment. Alice Walker Weekend is a four-day ode that will culminate with the official grand opening of our sister bookshop, Ida’s.
