About the Event
One of our fav scenes in The Color Purple is set in a 1940s juke joint. It's that the one where Shug Avery serenaded a bashful Miss Celie. Well for Alice Walker Weekend, experience Our Sisters Bookshop transformed into Our Sisters Juke Joint — a place to lay down your burdens while stomping your feet to sultry beats. We offer moonshine in mason jars, soul food on-to-go plates, readings, writings, and a shaking off of the blues.
